I was wondering if Dukies go to Chapel Hill/UNC sometimes to party, meet others, or just have a good time. I know Chapel Hill is a bit nicer than Durham and UNC is a lot bigger then Duke with a 60/40 ratio so do a good number of Dukies hang out there sometimes. What about NC State?

If you have friends on those campuses, sure. I’m likely the only person (maybe one other) from my school considering going to Duke and the majority of my great friends are going to either carolina or state so i’ll expect to visit both campuses 1 or 2 times a month. Chapel Hill has the superior college town so it’s definitely a congregating spot for the three schools.

Not as much as you’d think. The Robertson bus makes it pretty easy to go between the two universities, but it’s usually far from full except on Friday nights. Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro is reasonably popular.

I don’t think many people hang out at State at all. Some people go to Raleigh for clubs on occasion.

Dude, the guys in Derm are sure going to want to hang out in Chapel Hill, I can tell you that 100% for sure. Carolina is known for having many, many pretty girls. Enough said. Just give that about two weeks.

The answer to your question is yes. There are certainly circles of students that go very regularly (i.e., students who have relationships with UNC students, whether it be social, romantic, or friendly). Fraternities (and perhaps sororities though I cannot say for certain) are known for trekking over to Chapel Hill for a night of fun every few weeks. The frequency varies as some circles go 3 or 4 times a month, some once or twice, and others in a blue moon.

The opposite is also true as there have been known to be Chapel Hill populations at a few Duke parties. For example, if the club soccer team from Chapel Hill is playing Duke, then they may be invited to spend the night Blue Devil style. Of course, some UNC students also come out because they have some shade of the aforementioned relationships.

Finally, in regard to the post above, I trust that you will find a very attractive population at Duke, though not in the quantity at Chapel Hill. In those regards, it comes down to what you value: quantity or quality? And The Blue Devil will leave an open end to what exactly you want to define as “quality”.

As far as Raleigh, I’m not sure. NC State, Elon, ECU are all known to attract a few students who have friends attending those universities but are not the typical one-Friday-night-out deal. As far as going to Chapel Hill, the Robertson does make it easy to get to the other’s campus, but it does stop operating at a certain hour–an hour that is often too early for students. For this reason, be expecting to take cabs back and forth, unless you stay the night or leave early that is. Cabs range from $20-$40 between the campuses.
