Do early action colleges look at second quarter grades?

I know that colleges look at your first quarter grades, but will schools that I’m applying early action to look at the second quarter? Second quarter wouldn’t even be finished by the time the decisions are made, so I don’t think it would be fair for them to.
Also, someone told me they can look at your grades at any time they want to. Is that true? Thank you!

They can’t look at your grades, but they can, and sometimes do, contact the GC for an update.

Colleges will not see your second quarter grades by the time decisions are made. If they are on the fence, most likely they would defer you. Note that regardless of an acceptance in the early or regular round, the admissions offer is contingent upon maintaining grades close to where they were when you applied. So, if you get accepted and your grades suddenly tank, they could rescind the admissions offer.
