Hi. I am an International student, applying for ED this year.
If I take SAT 1 in October, and SAT 2 in November (These are the only two dates this year), will I be able to apply for Early Decision. Most colleges' ED deadline is November 1.
Will they accept my NOV SAT Score, even though it shall come in the end of November, or in the beginning of December?

In a word, yes.

Wow, that’s a relief. But again, one little concern… Will my chances will be hurt because my SAT score is received way after the deadline?

No. There have been plenty of nervous applicants posting on CC around application submission deadlines, and all of them have turned out fine. I’ve seen multiple sources that say that the November testing date is the last accepted for ED/EA applications, so you should be okay.

That’s great! Glad I cleared this out!
Thanks fledgling! :)

^ You’re welcome. Glad I could help :D

Caveat: the above does not apply to all ED/EA colleges as there are a few which require tests to be completed by October. You should check particular school or tell us to which one you are applying ED.

drusba,
I am not decided on which college I will be apply ED to, but it will be one of these:
(Engineering)
Cornell, Columbia, Stanford, GA Tech, UIUC.

Georgia Tech and UIUC do not have early decision and Stanford has SCEA, so you can only apply there early but it’s not binding.

How is Stanford’s finaid package for international ED applicants?

Cornell and Columbia accept through Nov tests for ED but say you should put them on test application as college to receive scores (one of your free sends) to assure it makes it in time and don’t wait to send until after scores come out.

Stanford is one of those exceptions that requires for its non-binding early action program (has no binding early decision) all tests to be completed by October test date. However, it does not require SAT IIs, but highly rrecommends them, i.e., your application will be considered even without SAT IIs. Also be aware that if you apply to Stanford early action, you are prohibited from applying early action or early decison elsewhere.

Ga Tech has no early action or early decision program, only regular admission except that you need to apply early (usually by sometime in October) to be considered for a number of scholarships. It neither requires nor considers SAT IIs for admission.

UIUC has a form of non-binding early action which is called priority date consideration. If you apply by Nov 1 and all required things are sent by that date, you will be told of decision in mid-December, either admit, deny, or deferred to Feb (final decision) time. It does not require and will not consider SAT IIs for admission. Latest SAT test you can take for priority date consideration is October test and should put it as a recipient on the application for the test.

That was very informative. I had no clue UIUC and Ga Tech don’t consider SAT 2 scores. Do internationals qualify for the scholarships Ga Tech provides?
And is UIUC’s early action programme single-choice?

And this one’s a sort of random question… Where is it easier to get ED/SCEA admssion: Cornell or Stanford (Engineering)?

UIUC does not prohibited you from applying early action or early decision elsewhere. You do not really have to worry about the scholarship date at Gtech. The main one that requires early application, the President’s scholarship (a full ride), is available only to US residents; GTech has a lot of partial tution merit awards and generally those do not require early application. Can’t say whether Stanford EA or Cornell ED is “easier.” Guess would be Cornell ED simply because at the high ranks ED likely provides the slightly better chance over EA because college is getting a guaranteed enrollment.

Georgia Tech has two early programs. One is “Early Notification” where you apply by Oct 1st and find out by Nov 20th. The other is the Presidential Scholarship Program where you apply by Nov 1st and find out Dec 16th.

They will most likely get the November scores.
