do engineering majors ever mix with kids from other majors? i know the rest of the school has tons of parties. do engineers ever go to these? is it tough to keep a good GPA in engineering and go out a lot at the same time?

an even more daring question: do engineers ever throw their own parties with alcohol (not stolen from chem lab)?

lol would you even have time to party

thats what im tryin to figure out haha

haha it all depends. I’d say MOST don’t, but theres definitely engineers that party. The courseload is a lot more compared to other majors so that leaves less free time, but there’s those that find time to party.

Engineers and party are not two words that go together here. I know a few who party, but their lives are a living hell as they get very little sleep.

I definitely have a few friends at U of I who are engineers and maintain 3.8+ GPAs and party quite often. I’m not really sure how they find the time, but if you have good time management skills then you can study hard and party hard.

yah, i just visited an engineering thing there and i met these girls who have above a 3.3 and the party minimum at least a few times a week. So you can make time, it will just be hard, and i dont even have good time management skills so i guess next year if i want to have fun it will force me to lol

there are Girls in Engineering?

dragoon I find it interesting that you say UIUC would be super easy in another thread - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-illinois-urbana-champaign/1323923-difficulty-engineering.html - but here you seem to think that the workload would be too high for the OP. What is your actual stance?

@dragoon998 can you at least try not to ■■■■■? Or try to make friends? (considering you effort thus far, the latter may be impossible)

Just to throw this out there, I have a 4.0 in ECE right now, I’m doing research with a professor, actively involved in RSO’s, etc, and I party on weekends. You really need to take a break from studying every now and then otherwise you won’t be able to get through your four years, be that break gaming, partying, etc.
