Do EOPS students get cheaper housing??

I got a message on my myberkeleyapp a few wks ago that I'm part of the EOPs program now. I also read on a thread on here (can't find it now) that we get cheap housing!? Does anyone have any info on this??

I think you are referring to EOP (Educational Opportunity Program). You get a slew of services with the program and some financial assistance, but no discount on housing. You may qualify for application fee waiver or fee deferment; for more information, see [UC Berkeley SLAS/EOP](http://slas.berkeley.edu/financial.html)

I think you mean the co-ops.

EOP doesn’t get discount, but it does get you priority for co-ops (which are much cheaper than regular housing).

However, co-ops have their own drawbacks – I suggest you visit their website, browse the threads on CC about them and decide for yourself.

I got into EOP or something…what does thaat even mean? Why did I get it?

I got into EOP too and need more information. They haven’t sent us anything. Anyone who is currently in the program or was in the program can offer more info please? Do we have periodic meetings or anything like that?

Will we get an email soon about a meeting of some sort?

No meetings that I know of, but you have an opportunity to meet with some guidance counselors… or something.

I only used EOP status for co-ops. That’s all.

I got the offer of EOP but what is it and how do I sign up or take advantage of their services? I could use some tutoring! I hope I don’t get a B in my English class. I got a B on my first paper and it sucks cause I looked around and like 5 people got A’s. : [
