although a lot of you make valid points, you guys are still very mean lol. 900th post! :)

Here's a quote from another discussion:

"Reminds me of the last time I went to the US, about 2 years ago or so. Everyone I saw was hugely fat. I felt like I was in the land of the giants. I couldn't find normal sized clothes anywhere either. Your whole culture seems set up to make people fat..commercials pushing junk food at you, the way your grocery stores are set up, your 'diet' industry. I feel as sorry for people that get trapped into that cycle and wind up weighing 400 lbs or more, as much as I feel sorry for someone who winds up hooked on crack. You are responsible for your own problems. If you're obese and don't want to be, it's fairly simple. Ditch your tv. Avoid meat and sugar. Stretch. Move around..."

I'm not disgusted by fat people; however, I am disgusted by slobs. I have a friend who is overweight, but she dresses fabulously and always does her hair and makeup nice. Do I think she's disgusting? Hell no, and no one else seems to think so either. Many boys think she's pretty. She carries her extra weight very well, since it's mostly in her hips and thighs, so she looks very womanly and it really works for her. I really think she looks good the way she does, since she's short and sassy and thick.

However, I know another girl who is also overweight, but she wears the same baggy sweater everyday, never bothers to put any effort into her appearance, and her hair is generally a mess. I still like her as a person, but people don't respect her very much because well, she looks like a mess.

Yeah, I find it disgusting when girls come to school with frazzled/unwashed hair, ultra-large hoodie, sweatpants, and skater shoes. Gross!

fat people who eat all day, sofa and sandwich all day, have no purpose, and rarely see the light of day repulse me...

A lot of you are saying that fat people repulse you because they wear incorrect clothes that reveal too much. Basically, they are selling themselves the wrong way. Woeiseponine, I know several girls like that, too. If you have ever watched the show "What Not To Wear", there are plenty of women (and men, might I add) who package themselves in the wrong way, so to speak, by wearing the wrong kind of clothes.

@Collegehopeful: You have distorted views about the female body and what it should look like.

And LinGCN4, how come guys can get away with coming to school with "frazzled/unwashed hair", an "ultra-large hoodie", "sweatpants", and "skater shoes"?

I think women take way too much crap and criticism about their own body, and men can get away with pretty much everything.

erm..not to be mean but yes, because "fat" or obese people with some extra weight tend to be gluttonous and not as intelligent...not meaning to stereotype or anything. Everyone should just eat healthy, have an exercise program, good study habits, etc. etc. etc. in my flawed selfish opinion.

^^ Have you ever heard of the Freshman 15? That happens to many COLLEGE students. But those people aren't intelligent at all...

Catsushi, men, by law, cannot worry about their appearance. Think of the lumberjacks.

Fat/Obese people don't repulse me at all.
I just kind of feel sorry for them because
some people can be really mean/b*tchy to
them.

I could never get emotionally close to a fat person.

Only if said fat people are obnoxious.

I know it's very un-PC to say so, but yeah, sometimes really overweight people gross me out. People need to learn to respect their bodies.

BMI is a terrible indicator of being obese... I am over 200 lbs and 5'11'', and considered overweight. I guess they don't consider things such as my bodyfat percentage (13%) and athletics (I play football, track, and lift and run regularly). I consider myself very in-shape; I am lean (Veins showing, visible abs), strong/athletic (I can bench over 300 lbs, and run a mile less than 6 minutes), and no way "obese".

People here are also implying food is the main factor of obesity, when in reality it is only a small part. Two examples are Joey Chestnut and Kobayashi, they both consume thousands of calories but maintain a respectable physique (Kobayashi has an impressive 6-pack might I add). Some hardcore athletes and bodybuilders even consume up to 9000 calories just to maintain their weight. Genetics and exercise are two huge roles; genetics determine whole hell of a lot of things in your body and obesity is one of them. Metabolism, muscle, and skeletal structure are just a few things that determine weight. Exercise is the number one thing a person can do to prevent obesity, no matter his/her genetics exercise helps.

I find lazy and unmotivated fat bastards repulsive (people who eat buckets of ice cream and sit in bed all day), but if a person is trying to improve his/her appearance or has a excuse then I don't find them repulsive.

Nah not really.. some fat people are real nice... and tend to be very modest people... so they can make you look good and you can gain a friend... LOL... not that im taking advantage of anyone (LMAO).. only kidding... but to be honest.. some kinda do... not gonna lie... but thats cuz they are fat+ugly.. and the fatiness has made them ugly... there are ugly cute people as in a cute face, fat body....

We could get into another dicussion about "Phat" booties though... cuz honestly guys... what guy wouldnt want their girlfriend to have a lil junk in the trunk, but also have a decent waist size (NOT SUPER MODEL... NOT A OBESE... i love atheletic girls... most athletic girls got BACK!!!

Obese people show no control for their appetite and are too lazy to exercise. They disgust me in that manner. A lot of whales also dress up like slobs.

I understand that college freshmen put on a few pounds and some of us just can't get rid of those last 20 pounds of excess body fat.

I also don't like underweight women, I'd just like to put that out.

I find it disgusting when fat women flaunt their fatness. I'm not talking about "a little cushion for the pushin'", chubby kind of fat. I mean rolls of fat spilling out of too-small, nasty tight tank tops and booty shorts that show off the mountains of fat and flesh. I'm sorry, but it's not healthy and it's not pleasant to look at. I think it is very rare for people to naturally be at that stage of fat.. and for all of those who are that way because of bad habit and pride in obesity, I would respect them if they began to try to lose weight and live more active lifestyles, rather than just parading around their giant billows of fat and shouting "fat is beautiful!" Honey, you may be beautiful, but your wobbly fat rolls are not.

im a bit overweight but biking and hiking like heck to get it off
im repulsed by ppl who r fat and are not visibly tryign to lose weight such as ordering 3 double quarter pounders and eating giant mounds of ice cream

collegDopeful- you are so wrong, who the hell made you a nutrionist. It's egotystical people like you that give young women eating disorders. Are you aware of how many young girls die of Anorexia and Bulimia each year? And for you information a BMI of 24.2 is in the normal weight range for a woman of this height and they fall in the 49th percentile....TOTALLY NORMAL! You need to get your head out of your A$#!
