I've heard they do at some point but mostly I've been hearing that they don't. At one of my colleges, I highly doubt I'll get any merit aid but since it says "100% demonstrated need," I'm assuming the package I'm expecting will be mostly grants, loans, and a work study, right? My efc is 0 in case anybody was wondering and my income bracket is around 20k a year. I didn't do so well in one of my classes senior year (AP Calc - D) and i ended up dropping it, will this affect my need-based aid at all, as in should I be expecting less money or something? Thanks.

Btw, I’m not getting rescinded as the college has forgiven me for my single blunder, in case you were wondering.

Yes and no…

Yes…because you need the stats to get accepted to the schools that give the best aid.

Yes…because some schools don’t “meet need” and give more money to “desirable” students with strong stats.

No…because for fed aid and in some states, you get the aid based on income.

No…because is you’re admitted to a “full need” school, you’ll get the aid you qualify for (if the school has loan limits.)

I’m already accepted and this school does! So I should be okay from what you’re saying? My income should show that I should be expecting a pretty nice package even with my…blunder? Thanks.

What school is this?

Some “full need” schools do not put loans in the packages for low income students.

BTW…do you have a non-custodial parent? If so, did you have to provide his income info?

It’s University of Notre Dame.

I was told on the Notre Dame thread that a person in my circumstances wouldn’t get loans really…grants and work studies are what I’m supposed to be expecting, even though Notre Dame does give out loans and such.

Nope…I have both my parents.

I think you can relax.

^Haha, best answer I could ever get.

Any other thoughts?

However, do you know if it’s ND’s policy not to put loans in FA packages for low income students? Only some universities have that policy. I don’t know if ND has that policy.

ND may have a “summer work contribution” expectation…do you know if it does?

Hahaha, I’m pretty relaxed…I’m just curious is all.

I don’t think that policy exists with Notre Dame…I was just told by another CC poster is all.

I’ve never seen that before and I just checked now and I still don’t see it :p.

Mom2collegekids, I’m jsut reading up on past posters and their experience with ND and it sounds like packages have been pretty idealistic…the only thing I worry about is the blunder I have in one of my classes! Like I’m kind of paranoid that I’d get less money because of it, but that’s just me being stupid and telling myself these things without actually knowing if this is true or not, haha. Doesn’t sound like they’d do that.
