“I deducted international students”
“The article quoted 22.2% of accepted students are Asian American, and 11.4% of accepted students are international – that’s an unknown percentage of Asian international students in addition to Asian Americans. My guess just form walking around Harvard’s campus is that 20% to 25% of the student body is Asian, whether they are Asian American or from an international Asian country.”
@gibby I also sense that about 20-25% of students are Asian.
International students are like 10% of students. So if I made a mistake of deducting it out, the size of the error would not be too large, about 10%.
Having said so, it is not clear on how Harvard computed the reported 22.2%: whether it is based on all admitted students or based on admitted domestic students. According to the article, Asian American, African American, Latino American, and native American add up to almost 50%. Although the article says nothing about the % of white American, I think it should be slightly above 50% (Yale has this ratio at 52%). It is possible that the 22.2% is based on admitted domestic students, and my rough estimate is based on this possibility.
