Do high school college classes count towards transfer GPA?

Hi everyone,

I took a college class in my Junior-Senior summer in high school at the University of Vermont. I was wondering if the grade from this one class would count towards my transfer GPA, or if maybe it depends on the school you’re transferring to. I sent the official transcript with my transfer application, but that college course also counted towards my high school GPA.

Generally if you take the course for high school credit it won’t appear on your college transcript. Check your college transcript to see if the course is there.

I’m curious because I sent the official transcript from the University of Vermont. It was also counted towards my high school GPA and included on my high school transcript. So, as of now, it is both an official college class with a college transcript and a class counted by my high school as well. I’m only curious because if included, it increases my transfer GPA. It was also counted as transfer credit to the University I am at now.

Depends on the school’s policies then. For example, a school like Yale will NOT count college classes taken during high school in the transfer process regardless whether you have an official transcript or not.

Each college and university sets its own policy about this kind of thing. You really have to ask each place that you apply to.
