I took Algebra I & Geometry in middle school. Will the grades I received in these 2 classes affect my high school GPA? Will I start freshman year with these grades?

Yeah. They do if you receive a high school credit for them.

^^ thats exactly how it is at most schools since those are high school courses but it doesnt have a drastic influence on your GPA if thats what you’re wondering about cuz i had mediocre grades (low 80s) for algebra I in grade 8 but by the end of ninth i had a 3.8 GPA so your grades in middle school cant make or break you since you can always redeem urself in high school

Depends on the school. I took Algebra I and Geometry in middle school too but the grades were reported on my transcript as P (as in Pass/Fail).

It depends. My school didn’t count my 7th grade Algebra 1 credit toward my GPA, but my 8th grade Geometry and Earth Science ones counted. Your transcript should show which ones you take goes toward it. Mine has letter codes on the side to tell colleges which classes count toward your GPA.

Dangit. I got mediocre grades in Geometry [1 B+, 1 B, 1 A-]. Will this really affect me? Will it affect college admissions?

I took high school math classes in middle school too, but they don’t count for gpa or high school credit etc. at my school. I took a math class over the summer right before 9th grade, and that counted. but before that, no. Schools are different.

Hmm, I took Algebra 1&2 in Middle School and they’re not on my transcript.

I took algebra 1 in 8th grade and it doesn’t count toward my GPA.

I’m taking Alg 1 and Geometry in middle school and it counts so.

I took Algebra I in 8th grade and I got credit but it didn’t impact my GPA or transcript.

For me, no. I took Geometry and Alg II at my local high school as a middle school kid and I don’t think it counted towards my GPA. Not sure if it counted as credits, I didn’t pay attention since I easily had enough.

It sounds as if it varies by school, so you should call the HS guidance counselor’s office and ask.

It usually doesn’t, but you will take a test at the beginning of the year to see if you know enough of the topic you took in middle school to move into the higher math courses in high school.
