Do high school seniors normally have a lot of academic awards to list?

AP scholar isn’t that important, ime. Ymmv.

For some schools, NMSF is not that important either as the cutoff score may be below admission average of corresponding SAT score. Anyway, there many awards are not worth mentioning either if one has something better to fill in.

Yes, that’s the ultimate point. I’ve seen kids list 9th gr ‘best student in this history class.’ I wince at the implications in “most improved” in a course. You really need an idea what your targets want to see.

We’ve had lots of threads on NHS, too.

Just a tip you can add any memberships to national honor societies (ie NHS , national science HS, national english HS etc) under the “academic awards” list.

No, we’re saying that’s not necessarily a tip. Many hs let anyone in or only based on narrow criteria. It’s very hs unique. Your decision whether to put it in activities. But it’s not the equivalent of say, district debate champ.

Some hs let in 9th graders. What’s that show? Some are do-nothing clubs. Some let in kids only based on gpa, not rigor.

I’m just restating advice provided to me by my counselors that ended up working out for me. They don’t have to put it down, but my highschool counselors recommend that you do.
