Do high schools still use UW GPAs?

My school reports unweighted GPA and ranks based on weighted GPA. I think this system is good because it takes into account the difficulty level of courses while giving ranks.
I have heard that when the colleges recalculate the GPA, they do it on an unweighted basis and also drop the + & - (that is, A+, A- and A are all the same).

I highly doubt that any colleges drop the + and - ... in many high schools, especially with so much grade inflation, the difference between a B- and a B+ could be pretty huge.

My school uses unweighted grades which MAKES THE MOST SENSE. While colleges do take a good look at your Honors/AP courses they do recalculate your GPA to unweighted anyways... we use two different ranking systems however one regular and one honors ranking which only ranks those students who take 2 or more honors classes per tri each year

No the 4.0 scale does not make the most sense! keep everything out of 100. Give weight to calculate rank but keep UW grades on file. a 99 in a class is better than a 92 and therefore should be given more weight.
