Do hobbies and awards for them count as extracurricular activities?

I am going to a community college, and there is no tennis club there.
I was taking tennis lessons last spring, and did tennis before them. This summer I won Greater Lafayette Tennis Association tournament in Indiana. Now, I play tennis with my neighbor about 8 hours a week.
Also, I do photography and have a couple of portfolios. I do not know how to "introduce" them to the world and have never entered any contests in photography. Anyway, I did several senior photography sessions for free in my high school.

So do hobbies like that count toward extracurricular if I have a wider experience in them, but they are not associated with high school or college?
Thank you!

Yes

Definitely, definitely, definitely. So much more impressive than doing your high school Key Club or whatever. Yes, talk about what you have done with your passions in your essays! And submit a portfolio of your best photos to colleges!! :)

petrawinklevoss, thank you! Very optimistic answer for me :)

I want to apply to UC Berkeley, so I hope these activities will help…
