Do I even have a chance at schools such as Duke, UVA, and Georgetown??

Bio: white male, live in Virginia

I really want to go to Duke and intend on applying ED but I slacked off freshman year and want to know if the gets rid of my already small chance of getting accepted into Duke

GPA- 4.17 weighted and 3.8 unweighted
Sat- 1600
Sat bio subject test- 800
Sat math 2 subject test- 790

Wow you have a great upward trend. They will certainly notice this (along with your stellar scores).

You wrote that you ‘intend on applying ED’. Are you aware that the ED deadline has already passed?

I’m assuming your SAT 1600 score is just your M+V sections, which is great but why leave out the W score? I’m sure Duke and other school care about it.

@jwest22 the new version of the SAT only has 2 subsections. The pre-2016 SAT has 3 scores.

Based on what you’ve provided, sounds like you’ll be a competitive applicant but we don’t have the whole picture. I doubt they’d eliminate you based on GPA and I would imagine it will come down to other criteria. One thing I don’t understand is why you only receive one grade per class. I would assume your school gives grades per semester and find it unlikely you got the exact same grade both semesters in every class. In any event, it’s out of your hands at this point, so nothing more you can do and might as well not worry and just hope for the best. Good luck!
