Do I even have a chance here at all?

I know this post is a bit long, but I greatly appreciate anyone who will take the time to help me out and give me some advice!

I plan to study politics if that means anything..

I think your ec’s are great but your test scores and low for columbia. To have a real shot i would raise those sat to a 2200 and get a 700 or above on another sat 2 and forget about lit. If your good at memorization try biology.

Some of your ECs are impressive (your newspaper/reporter and business start-up) others not so much (only 1 year of speech and debate, cheerleading). I would try to eliminate some of the long list of activities so it doesn’t look like you’re throwing a bunch of stuff against a wall to see what sticks. I’d start by removing your 1 year of speech and debate along with 1 year of varsity cheerleading…

At the end of the day your decent but not outstanding SAT score makes you a little more of a longshot than most. Good luck!

Probably like 50% chance. Ii like the focus on journalism. And your SATs are not that low, but you’d have a better chance if they were higher, of course.
