I've been in love with NYU since 6th or 7th grade and it's definitely my dream school, I'd be crushed if I didn't get in. For as long as I can remember I was 100% sure that I was going pursue medicine, but as of late my family has been adamant in dissuading me from going down that path. My parents really want me to go to NYU Stern for business or finance but I'm highly doubt that I have any chance of getting in at this point.
I'm a junior and right now my average is ~91 unweighted and ~95 weighted. I'm taking investments right now, but none of my other classes or clubs show that I have an interest in business. I took the November SAT and got a 2100 and I plan on retaking it and getting 2250+. My EC's are definitely not stellar.
Do I have a chance at NYU Stern? Is there anything that I can do to improve my chances at this point or should I kiss my NYU dreams goodbye?

Get a 2200+ and you should be good. Good luck!

You don’t need to have demonstrated an interest in business through your activities - you do however, need to have demonstrated a strong academic performance, which will not only serve you well in college admissions, but also when you actually enter Stern.

GL!

You definitely have a shot, especially if you get a higher SAT score.

Stern is getting increasingly harder to get into every year. I’m a freshman, and most of my peers in Stern are brilliant. Aim for 2300+ SATs and get very high grades in rigorous classes.

don’t change to business just cause your parents want you too… if you want to study medicine and thats what you love, than do it

My friend got in to the BPE program (~6% acceptance rate) with a 2110 and a 3.4 GPA UW. What got him in? His supplement essays were absolutely fantastic; they showed his passion. Show your passion with your essays and your scores don’t need to be absurdly high in order to get into Stern.

thanks for the feedback!

I think you’re good to go if you have 2200+… and if you focus on a rather diverse range of ec’s that’s fine, too! Make sure your essays are interesting and keep your faith! You still have some time if you’re a Junior in High School. Good luck!

thanks @anamibsous

hey, I am a junior and I have a question regarding NYU Stern and EDI. For my school, I hope to end up with around an unweighted GPA of 3.62 (out of 4.0), which is after junior year. Also, I hope my final SAT will be in the 2300’s. Probs 2350 and above. In SAT II’s, I have a 770 in Math SAT II (probs going to retake that) and I will take the Chem SAT II as well as the Physics SAT II. Additionally, I hope to get 5’s on my AP Stats, AP Physics, and AP Calc (these scores are the scores I am planning on submitting). I am a part of Math League, and I am planning on being the captain of the varsity track team. I have some community service hours, probs around 26 (probs going to get more). I hope to get recommendations from my history teacher and either physics or calc teacher. Finally, as for ranking, I’m not entirely sure. I hope to load all of my classes senior year with AP’s, some of the AP’s being economics and business related. What is your stance on my chances of getting into Stern EDI?
