Do I even have a shot at Penn in Regular Decision?

final bump

Your stats are solid for Penn… Volunteer work is really good but don’t see too many ECs (as in activities like sports, music, art, etc.)
Still, you definitely have good chances, and a shot at getting in.
Best of luck to you!

chance me back if you would

anybody else?

You’re solid. You don’t have anything to worry about. I’m in a similar situation with you in terms of the ACT score, SAT score, and the legacy status, and I feel pretty confident about my chances, so should you.

Chance me back?

Thank you :)

bump bump again

Your scores are a little low, but I think the legacy might help you there. I think you’ll get in. Good luck.

Is it true that at Penn, legacy really only helps in Early Decision?

[Penn Alumni: Alumni Council on Admissions](http://www.alumni.upenn.edu/aca/earlyregdec.html)

Yes.

ok thanks schmohawk. the link you provided does say that legacy is noted in RD as well, just not as heavily as ED

Yes, it’s noted. But does little to no good. Since this is from the Alumni Relations page, it’s a nice way of telling people not to expect legacy to count for much in the RD round. Even ED, two-thirds of legacies are not admitted.

“but it plays a much smaller role in the face of a very competitive, much larger applicant pool. During Early Decision, Penn has received roughly 4,000 applications. In Regular Decision, Penn has received between 19,000 and 23,000 applications.”

alright well that sucks

bumpski…
