I think my stats are on the low side, and I don't have thousands of dollars to waste on application fees. Do I even have a chance of getting accepted?

GPA: 3.6 UW 3.8 W
SAT: 740CR 710M 720W
SAT2: Bio-E and Math2, probably 700-750 on both.

Average ECs, Recs, and great essay.

My major would be Biological Sciences/Neuroscience track if I was accepted.

I'll probably be retaking SATs in Nov, aiming for high 2200-2300. My math score was much lower than expected.

Don’t know if anyone but admissions can tell you how that GPA on the chart is calculated. I can tell you that they do NOT include your freshman year grades when they look at your GPA for admission, so if you did poorly freshman year, there’s still hope!

You look pretty good to me, it’s definitely worth the fee. Highly recommend you apply to more than MCS, definitely HSS and anything else you can add. Then if you desire, transfer to MCS. I am not certain, but I would imagine it is relatively easy to transfer to MCS.

I don’t think interviews are critical. My son got into SCS without one. (He was a strong candidate however.) I believe the GPAs are unweighted, and someone else posted that a CMU admissions officer will ignore lower grades freshman year.

you should be good, I just scraped 2100 n I am doubling in CS and phy. I only applied to MCS and then after my sophomore year applied to the CS school and got in.
