P.S. Any current Stanford students would like to read my admissions essay? It's pretty hook-ish.

As a current Stanford student, your resume seems pretty good to me. However, Stanford is Stanford and you can never guess what they are going to like. In my opinion, those who are accepted all have unique and clever essays. I know people who have done way more and way less than what your resume describes, yet each person’s essay describes who they are and why they are unlike every other person who is applying. So just make sure that you explain why you went to Singapore and every other aspect of your resume, because if you can’t give a significant reason why you and only you could do these things then the readers will see it as BS to just get into college.

No, a snowball has no chance getting admitted to Stanford as student. So in comparison, you have a much a better chance, considering it’s never really cold enough for ice to stay in the Bay Area for long! Hahah, but puns aside…you need to put effort into your Stanford supplemental essays!

^I think you misinterpreted his title. “Snowball’s chance in he**” (not Stanford). In case you still don’t know, he’s referring to a place that’s really hot where you might spot the Devil and where bad people are abaundant. So unless you’re version of hot is 70 degrees, the Devil is John Arrillaga, and bad people are Asian tourists, then it’s not referring to Stanford.

Ah, that figure of speech! Well certainly, then a snowball will fare better at Stanford than in the Inferno, I would like to think!

^I still think you’re missing something or you’re pulling my leg. It’s not how well the snowball will fare at Stanford. It’s how the OP will fare in the Stanford admissions process. He’s comparing that to the snowball in h. The snowball is not related to Stanford, the OP is not related to h. “Snowball in h***” versus “OP in Stanford admissions” are related though.

Yes. It was a joke Senior0991. =D

stanford does not accept the january sat.

they may or may not receive it in time, but I’m trying my luck nonetheless:) I’m certain they’ll receive it in time

OK, I tried to send you a PM, but it isn’t showing up under sent messages, so here’s a copy. I hope you see it.

I LOVE your essay ideas. They show how you are unique and likely to be successful in the future. I would like to read them, but they’re due tomorrow so I don’t know how much I can help!

I would not submit the literature score.

If you put the poetry in the Additional Information section, they should read it. DON’T send it via email or anything outside of CommonApp.

Regarding awards and ECs:
Spell out whatever the HL acronym stands for unless you think the adcom will be familiar with it.
For the L’Oreal internship competition, maybe you could add a couple of words explaining what it actually is, unless you think the adcom will be familiar with it. I can’t tell what field it is in (is it actually about makeup? Or business?)
Spell out PAFSM, WOSpec, etc. Make sure the reader can tell what they are.

What you have done through your essays and EC list is very effective at making you stand out from the stereotypical Asian applicant. It’s also good that you won’t need financial aid because international decisions are NOT need-blind. It is EXTREMELY IMPORANT that you mention somewhere on the application that you are first-generation!

Overall, I think you are a very strong applicant. You have demonstrated initiative and passion. I have not seen anyone with your level of accomplishment rejected, except one who was probably a fraud. That being said, no one is ever guaranteed admission; you are at the mercy of the adcom’s whim. So I’ll estimate your chances at 60%.

Based on my calculations (assuming 900 RD applicants attend and a 70% yield rate), Stanford should accept about 5% of RD applicants. Good luck!

^You wouldn’t send a 770 Literature score…? That is a very impressive score, especially for Literature.

Stanford doesn’t accept January test scores. ([Application Deadlines & Fees : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University)) Unless there’s some exception I’m unaware of.

I will never understand why people post chance threads. I understand that they’re tempting to post since they might relieve SOME anxiety but they’re useless in the long run.

Interesting that you say essays matter most for Stanford. What about a 33 ACT, very unique essay, strong community service (over 2,000 hours in high school), and strong leadership EC plus won top national science award. Any chance of getting in RD?
