Do I even stand a chance?

<p>I'm really starting to fall in love with Wesleyan and all it's has to offer. Care to chance me?</p>

State: Florida</p>

<p>Ethnicity/Gender: African American Female</p>

<p>Intended Major: Film Studies (possible Minor)</p>

<p>GPA:2.9-3.0 UW :( I know, Hopefully by application time w/ Mid Year Report I can raise it but I'm not sure if admissions would see my improvement by then (Really worried about GPA because I had a really bad Junior Year (depression, family issues, etc)</p>

<p>SAT: Took first in June (1950). PSAT Score-189. Taking the October SAT soon</p>

<p>AP Courses: (Frosh-Junior): AP Chemistry, AP World History, AP French Language, AP Human Geography, AP Physics, AP US History, AP English Language and Composition, AP Statistics)--Plenty of Honors Classes through the years as well</p>

<p>Awards:
None at the moment, but I'm hoping to win some Creative Writing Awards/Scholarships this summer as well as compete in some competitions (YoungARTS and Scholastic Awards).</p>

<p>Community Service:
Beta Club Hours, Volunteered at a nursing home. (200 + Hours), Volunteered at a Pediatrics Center-mostly clerical work</p>

Summer Job at Panera Bread</p>

<p>Reccomendations:
Probably from my AP French Teacher (Sophomore Year) who is also the sponcer of the French Club and my current AP US Government Teacher.</p>

<p>Wait, how are you taking the SAT on October if it’s November already? And how is winning competitions this summer going to help you if the application’s due before that? Do you intend to take a year off after you finish high school?</p>

<p>Oops. Sorry, I kind of pasted this thread from a previous one and forgot to update it. I had an issue with taking the October SAT( Crew obligations) so I have to take the December one. I also sent in a few portfolios for a few Writing Contests/scholarships this summer but I’ve yet to hear from them. Any other feedback.</p>

<p>As a HS senior, I really don’t feel qualified to tell you what your chances are. You should let them know what happened your junior year that got you a 3.0 GPA. It would also help if you had some 4s or 5s on AP tests.</p>
