Do I even stand a chance?

Hello everyone! I am new here and I had a question concerning Merit Scholarships.
I am currently a junior in high school.
3.6/4.0 GPA
1760/2400 1170/1600 SAT
13/99 Class Rank
Hoping to start volunteering at a hospital soon. (Apparently they only accept people to start volunteering once a year, and I did not know about that.)
Nevada All-State 2 years (Was not able to audition for third year and possibly fourth year) Las Vegas Honor Orchestra 3 years. Las Vegas Youth Orchestras 5 years.

I was wondering if there were any chances of me getting any sort of merit scholarships (or getting into any schools that provide these merit scholarships).
My parents are currently giving me an ultimatum of sorts. I either have to get a full ride to a school, or they are going to make me go to school in the Philippines.
I would rather stay in the U.S. for school than go to the Philippines, but if I have to I will.
So, does anyone think I stand a chance?
If not, go ahead and say. I've been pretty set on the fact that I'll most likely have to leave the country. :(
I am trying however to do everything I can to raise my stats!

Thanks! Sorry if this is a pretty long post.

There are not very many “full rides”…merit scholarships that pay full costs of attendance. Most of them are for highly competitive students at some schools…in other words, the TOP applicants with top stats.

Are you a U.S. citizen? How is it that you can go to college in the Phillipines?

Yes I am a U.S. citizen. Well, I think either I am going to get dual citizenship or i already have dual citizenship for the Philippines.

So, I guess it’s the Philippines I am headed towards.
Oh well. School is school no matter where I go right? Hopefully going international won’t make going to med or dental school difficult.

momfromtexas found full rides for both of her kids, so there may be hope for you. Read both of the threads about her research for some ideas:

As to being able to get into Medical or Dental school with a foreign degree, you may want to do some more research. Start with the Med school forum here:

Why must you go to the Phillippines if you don’t get a full-ride in the US? Can’t you go to school part-time and work part-time? Could you live at home and study at a community college for two years, then transfer to a public university in your home state?

Well, honestly, I wouldn’d mind staying here if it means working and going to school part time. However, it’s just I feel like I have to listen to my parents and do what they say (dumb, I know, but that’s just how I was raised. To always listen to what they say no matter what).
About the CC for two years. Currently I’m doing a dual enrollment program, and I could just go to my state school with about 60 credits finished already. However, sadly my parents would not even help pay for that.
It’s a pretty complicated situation. Okay not really, I could just rebel against my parents, and take loans and work if needed just to get an education here. Or I could just follow what they want and (most likely) end up going to the Philippines where they would pay for it and there would be no money issues.

If you are in dual enrollment, and will finish HS with 60 credits that are fully transferable to your state university, you only would have only about two years left to do there. You may be able to pay for that without your parents’ help. Talk to your guidance counselor about this.

I hope you have family in the Phillipines. It’s a LONG and expensive plane ride to come back here and that should be factored into the costs.

I would suggest that you discuss this with your parents. You both should be listing the total costs of an education (including tuition/housing/board) in the Phillipines including air travel (in my opinion) back and forth for four years. Then do the same for completing a bachelors degree here in the remaining two years…again, include all costs.
