I took a summer physics course at a cc and I got an A. I am wondering if I get 5 pts or 4 pts for the A when calculating my UC GPA.

if i get 5 pts, my GPA would be 4.25 and if I get 4, my GPA would be 4.17. So it would definitely help out if I could get some clarification.

did you take it for credit or no?

You'd need to ask your principal or the guidance office on the schools specific policy about weighing summer college courses

Our highschool gives us high school credit for taking college courses and we also get college credit since it was taken at a community college. BTW I live in CA and I am talking about the UCs and CSUs

I'd like to know as well. Although I took a class at UCSD, so I'm assuming they count that for the extra pt. :) Does anyone know if a UCSD summer class counts as 5 pts. (I got an A)?

im debating whether to put it on trancsript for extra point
or leave it off for future college credit.....

It shouldnt matter right? I mean we took we took the course to fulfill hs requirement but it IS on our college transcript. I spoke to my counselor before I put the class on my hs transcript and she said we do get credit for both hs and college. She calls it "double dipping!"

The real question is......Do we get that extra point though?....hhmm

It depends upon the school, if your school normally does not give college courses through the h.s then it probably won't be transcripted (way of keeping the playing field level and not paying for grades)

My Daughter's high school allowed students ti take selected courses at NYU and a few other colleges (tuition free and everyone had the opportunity to apply). The college courses and grades were placed transcript, she got H.S.credit but was not calculated it into H.S. GPA

yea, my physics course is already on my hs transcript and it counts toward my gpa. but do I get an extra point (like it is an honors/ap course) for my physics course that i took at a community college?

I just assumed we got the extra pt. (since it is College Level!). does the fact I took it at a UC make any difference? I'm going to be mad if I don't get the extra pt :)!!

When people say "calculating my UC gpa" what do they mean? There's not a place on the app. for GPA is there? I thought you just entered your grades and courses since freshman year and eventually they do it for you,,,

-Ender

that's true, but when I calculate it just to know what I have a gave myself the extra pt. :)

So when I hear people talk about calculating their UC GPA all the time it's just for themselves, right?

-Ender

i am talking about CSU gpa though

so it would actually matter for me
