Do I get to keep my work study job?

Hey guys! Last year I received work study on my financial aid package so I was able to obtain an on-campus job with it, but this year I didn't get work study. I'm guessing it may be because my parents' income has actually gone up over the past year, so I was eligible for less aid.

However, even though it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if I lost my job, I was just wondering whether or not this now means I'm ineligible to continue working there. I should probably call the FA office at my school and ask, but they can be a little bit frustrating to deal with sometimes so I'll start here. Thanks!

Ask your employer at the college. If your job is funded ONLY with work study funds, it’s likely it will need to be filled with a W-S recipient. However, some on campus jobs are also funded with university funds…ask…they will be able to tell you whether you can continue this job without a W-S award.

You might also see if you have any loan availability, sometimes they can be interchangeable, so the finaid office could transfer an amount of available loan to be WS
