Do I got a shot?

Hey everyone, I just wanted to know if I had any shot at getting accepted. Here are some of my stats:

SAT's: 1780 (Yes, they're really low, but I've only taken them once. I'm still a junior)

SAT II: World History: 740

GPA: 3.822 (weighted) 3.52 (unweighted) Class Rank: 78/362

Course Load:
All academic classes have been Honors courses plus two AP's this year. I plan to take five or six AP's senior year.

Extra Ciruculars:
Volunteer at the local SPCA
Volunteer at the Red Cross
Volunteer at the Salvation Army
Member of Kare (community service club at school, and will be leader next year.)
National Italian Honor Society
National German Honor Society (next year)
NHS
Model UN
Piano lessons for 12 years
Meditation Club (President)
Newspaper
School TV News
Mock Trial
Yearbook
CISV
I also learn Chinese and Hindi outside of school. In school I learn Italian, German and, next year, French. (If you haven't noticed, I focus a lot on languages. I also speak Korean.)
I plan to a) Get a job this year or b) get an internship with my State Senator (if I can..) or c) get an internship at the local courthouse.
Applied to PA Governer's School, and will attend either GU's Summer program or GW's Summer Program if I'm rejected.

Also, I'm the first person to go to college in my family, ever. Heard it helps...

not a chance.

Can you tell me why I wouldn't get in?

I say you should apply if you really want to come here. I would hate it if a thread like this stopped a kid from getting into a school because he assumed he'd get rejected. Anyways, your rank, gpa, and sats are on the low side but they might accept you based on other factors, like if you interned somewhere, or if you explain how you spend a lot of time learning different languages. The fact that you're the first in your family to go to college helps a lot. I say you have a chance but its definitely not certain.

if you are really interested in languages then wm isn't the best place for you, it isn't particularily strong in languages, also, stats way too low, if you are out of state you really dont have a chance, i applied ed with a 2160 and a 4.2 w gpa and 3.95 uw gpa and was deferred.

just my opinion:

your chances will improve greatly if:

SATs up (you have plenty of time)
your instate
your a guy (USN+WR: W&M accepted 43% of males and 31% of females)
your the first in your family to go to college (which you are)
you have a solid sr year (at least the first semester)
you write a really amazing essays (they look at those alot im told)

admissions is a crap shoot, so i would def not say you have no chance
ECs and the five languages going on will help you

祝你好运

I disagree that wm isn't a good school for languages...we have an excellent foreign relations program (Reves Center)

Lone Wolf,

You didn't break down your SAT scores, but a 1780 translates to about a 1180 if you scored evenly on everything. 1180 is well below w&m's 25% in SATs.

Your GPA and class rank put you outside the top 20% of your class. Over 80% of W&M's entering class is in the top 10% of his or her high school class. While its great that you're taking as many honors and AP classes as possible - being outside the top 20% of your class means that, in comparison to the other students taking these classes, you arn't doing that well.

You're OOS. 2/3s of W&Ms incoming class is from Virginia, while 2/3s of W&Ms applications come from OOS.

None of these things look that good for you. Yes having good EC's help, but most of the time, unless you cured cancer, you need the numbers FIRST and the ECs are supplementary. You don't have the numbers, regardless of how decent your ECs are.
