Do I have a chance as a transfer to UCLA or Berkeley?

I’m currently in summer school going into my sophomore year. Summer school is ending soon and it’s extremely likely I’m going to get all 3 a’s in my classes and so, I would assume I’ll have a 3.7 GPA. I had a 2.9 in High school with 1800 SAT. I’ll be done with all prerequisites and IGETC in fall 2016. My dad recently passed away the day I was going to take my finals for spring of freshman year and had to take a leave of absence for a week. I currently work around 25-30 hours a week to help with payments. I’m an Econ major w/ a minor in Math. Chance me please?

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major indicates the following 25th-75h percentile admit GPAs and admit rates for 2015:

UCB (pre-)economics: 3.81-4.00, 19%
UCB environmental economics and policy: 3.42-3.78, 49%
UCLA pre-economics: 3.85-4.00, 14%
UCLA pre-mathematics/economics: 3.80-3.98, 34%
UCLA pre-business economics: 3.90-4.00, 12%

High school stuff will not be considered for junior level transfers, other than fulfilling some base level requirements (e.g. American history and institutions), AP scores that the the UC accepts for subject credit, or whatever your CC accepts for IGETC.

Hard, but you have a shot I believe. The 25% for overall GPA at UCB last year for admitted transfers was 3.66 I believe.
