Do I have a shot at OOS admission to UCSD? Is it a match for me?
Thanks for your time and guidance.

You are full pay OOS @ 60K a year. that is going to help, you can pay that?
Have you calculated your UC GPA?

UC’s only use 10-11th grades for the a-g course requirements in their GPA calculation, so you need to calculate your capped weighted UC GPA:

https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Since you are OOS, only AP/IB or dual enrollment courses will get the extra honors points in the calculation. HS designated Honors courses are not weighted for OOS students.

Based on your UW GPA of 3.6, your UC capped weighted GPA may be anywhere from 3.9-4.1.

UCSD is possible, but not a Match school but closer to a High Match/Low Reach. If you cannot pay full fees at $65K/year, then it will an unaffordable option since they give little to no financial aid to OOS students.

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific.
UCSD: 38.7%

Your SAT score is above the 50th percentile and you have some good focused EC’s. Write some outstanding personal insight essays and there is definitely a chance.

Best of luck.

My UC GPA is 4.0

So the range I posted puts the admit rate around 39% for your UC GPA. This does not take into account your test scores which are above average, your personal insight essays and your EC’s which all could boost your chances. Definitely worth your time to apply if UCSD is affordable.
