Do i have a chance at all :(

sorry... Affirmative Action just really ticks me off.

Then talk about it on an AA thread. Why AA was even brought up in this chances thread is beyond me. I shouldn't have even responded after posting what I thought his chances were. Quick hasn't helped the OP at all.

Its ok Giants your info was helpful, do u have any college suggestion so far based of the previous quotes i'm thinking UC berk and maybe great private schools like Stanford

my friend (black) had a 3.4/1240 gpa/sat and got into Berk, UCSD, and claremont mckenna he chose emory. Thats ridiculous but i wanna do the same thing.

What do u think.

PS. Look at my face and see if i care whether or not u hate AA :/

What's your SAT on the old scale? That would help me out in making a determination. However, I don't think a 3.2 is gonna get you into berkeley even with AA. If your SAT's are high though, it does change things a bit. Cal Poly, by the way, uses strictly numbers-based admissions when looking at students outside of SLO county. AA will not be available to you at that school.

And i'm breaking down my college choices into definites (cal Poly, CC's, SDSU)
Maybes (lower UC's, Pepperdine, Gonzaga, Point Loma, UCSB)
And the Impossibles just because i may be that special case (Columbia, Georgetown and Cornell)

What is your UC GPA? Freshman year is thrown out and AP points are added, and the calculation is a tad different. If it's 3.5, you have a good shot at the lower tiered UCs and UCSB.

I've seen an awkward phenomena with UCLA/UCB. Friends of mine with 3.8~3.9s, but 1000 SAT scores have gotten into UC Berkeley and UCLA. I'm sitting there puzzled, going "***?!" when friends with 1350, 1400 have received denied letters.

I know for sure the URM thing isn't going for them. Just showing you how totally random everything can be.

As for your own chances, I say you have a decent chance at your safeties and your matches. Your reaches.. I'd take Columbia out of there.. Unless you score 2300+ and have a rapid rise to your GPA.

Giants: 2100 on the new scale is about a 1400 on the old.

yea thats about right no freshman year i have a 3.4 rounded up to a 3.5 but my friend (black) with a 3.4 and lower sats got into all the schools i just named

AA will be destroyed by people like Tom DeLay, it's just a matter of time. HEYYY, URMs.............take advantage of the system while it is still there............

i will don't worry

bumpity bump

err... UCs are a public institution. However, hard they try to woo URMs. They cant woo you by that much. Same with cal poly. Ur GPA is the real killer as UCs weight GPA very heavily in their admissions decisions. However, I feel you still have a shot at Cal Poly IF YOU DONT MAJOR IN ENGINEERING.

well then i'll just settle on emory
