I'm looking freshman to transfer out of my current school (for social and academic reasons). I'm guaranteed in at Cornell, so I wanted to choose another school for a transfer.

I've always liked Amherst for its diversity, lax (or no) core, tight-knit community, and academic strength, but was too scared that I didn't have the chops for it. I want to know if I have a shot now.

HS
GPA: 3.76 UW (due to a noticeable drop in grades second semester from A-'s to B+'s)
Rankings: top 5%, even with the mess-up. Graduated w/ Maximum Honors.
Rigor: AP Scholar w/ Distinction
SAT: (2100-2200)/2400 [M noticeably higher than CR and W]
SAT II: M II: 800, Bio M: 780
EC's: Solid, "leadership" positions, few awards [revolves around math, choir, volunteering, and stu. gov.]

College
1st Sem GPA: 3.9+
Major: Econ (BS)/Phil
Rigor: Intro-level, not challenging (but harsh curves).
EC's: Not much. Work study, member of several orgs, published some stuff.

Assuming I have good recs from my professors and write killer essays, will I have a shot at Amherst?
