I am a high school junior starting the college application process. I attend a private respected high school, and my current GPA is a 3.4. I slacked off the last two years but my upcoming junior year is filled with mostly honors courses. My goal is to bring my GPA up to a 3.7 by the end of junior year. I am involved with a lot of community service and i have played varsity sports for four years. Do you think I have a shot at NYU?</p>

<p>Being a junior in high school, i am undecided on a school, let alone a major. I am very interested in psychology, and as of now I intend to head in that direction. With the information posted should I apply to NYU as a reach school, and have hope of getting in or is it an unlikely bet?</p>
<p>For psychology you would apply for the College of Arts and Sciences(CAS)</p>
<p>Your GPA is low for NYU but if it is because of your private school the adcoms will probably take notice and that will compensate for it. We can’t really accurately chance you without your SAT scores, just try to get 2000+ and you should have a shot.</p>

<p>thank you plasma99. I tend to be a good standardized test taker, so hopefully I do well on the SATs.</p>
<p>if you are interested in playing a sport at NYU, you could also fill out an athlete’s questionnaire on the gym website. while we are Division III and cannot offer scholarships, NYU -does- like to recruit athletes for their sports teams. </p>

<p>I played for the club lacrosse team. It’s a HUGE time commitment, so just be aware of that.</p>
