Do I have a chance at Colgate?

Stats:
I'm a rising senior (female, white) at a competitive school in TX
ACT: 30 (31M, 31R, 27S, 29 E) Hoping to bring it up to a 31 or 32 by September.
SAT: 2060 (700M, 660CR, 700W- I'll only submit this one if my ACT does not increase)

GPA: 4.3 W/3.8 UW

6 APs, the rest honors
will have gone through spanish 5 by the time I have graduated and be somewhat fluent.

I don't want to list my entire resume; in a nutshell-

strong ECs (good amount of leadership)

extremely good community service/volunteering (Presidential Service awards every year, shows lots of commitment)

NHS member

plenty of job experience- this summer I have an internship in my field of study (psychology)

essay- college counselor & AP teacher said it was strong, exemplifies my character and initiative to make a difference

very strong teacher recs. (2 or 3)

generic counselor rec.

0 hooks.

I'm not applying for financial aid.

So do I have a chance at Colgate?? Most likely I'll apply regular decision, but possibly ED2. The only reason I'm slightly hesitant is because of the prevalent drinking/hookup culture I hear it has. Also will I be at an advantage or disadvantage because I am out of state? I would think advantage, for "geographical diversity" but you never know.

Fantastic chance. Great GPA, great test scores, and most importantly, no financial aid required. You will get in!

Just write good essays :)

There is absolutely bankable assurance represented by lines such as “you will get in”, unless you hear it from an admissions officer at Colgate or anywhere else.

So bear in mind that the process is complicated and Colgate’s admissions standards, such as they are, are always evolving- as you can see on its Admissions page for the Class of 2017. I suggest that you consider your high school’s track record with applicants (Colgate places great store in a high school’s relative quality), your guidance counselor’s views, and making your essays as interesting and compelling as possible.

Best of luck with your applications!

Sorry to be blunt about this but most definitely you will need to apply ED with your stats. That said, make your application as interesting as possible to overshadow you lack of “hook.” BTW no one will force you to drink or hook up at parties as long as you know what you want, you will be in charge.
Best wishes!

Laurenjo,
My post should have said “no bankable assurance”. Sorry for the confusion.
Best of luck with your applications!
