Hi ! I’m going to be a Senior this year. I have a 4.3 weighted gpa and a 3.8 unweighted gpa. I scored 1110 on the new SAT, which is out of 1600. I’m in Art appreciation club, National Honors society club. I did debate my sophomore year. I’m President of the endangered species club. I also have a job and I do Xc off to the side. I scored really good on my essay for the SAT. Also, I have 110 hours of community service. I’ve taken 6 Ap classes and the rest honors. I’m in the top ten percent of my class. Also, I’m a florida resident if that helps.
At unf, usf, fiu and fgcu. Also Eckerd and UF. I know my SAT isn’t amazing for Uf, but I’m going to take the Act. I’ve already taken the SAT twice and I got the same exact score. I’m about to give up on Uf. I’ve dedicated my whole high school to it and one test just might ruin my chances at Uf. It makes me really upset. Any feedback would be really appreciated.
The first thing you should realize is that your grades are excellent, and if expressed properly, your EC’s could help put together a very competitive application. Don’t limit yourself to Florida schools as you should certainly apply to more selective schools.
All of that said, and as I’m sure you know, your SAT score is very low compared to your grades. What I suggest you do is take a practice ACT as soon as possible (in your free time) and look closely at how you did. The first thing you must do is find what you haven’t learned yet or don’t remember – like trigonometry or how to use commas – and teach yourself/ask someone for help. Then, find out exactly which problems are messing you up and review how to answer such questions and the material involved. Once you do all of this, you should focus on mastering the test. Look online for free prep and just do as much as you can.
If you are able to put in the effort, you should be able to reach around a 30 or possibly better. It really all comes down to practice, but don’t waste away the rest of your time this summer simply studying – try to find a balance and continuously improve. Feel free to PM me about this as I’d be happy to help out more. Good luck!
Thank you !
