Soo I'm trying to transfer to RISD/MICA as a sophmore from WVU.
I have pretty average grades As Bs and Cs.
I got a 24 on my ACT.
and I'm trying to get into the illustration program.
and here's my portfolio! Treyasaurus's deviantART Gallery

Your art is good, but your portfolio would be much stronger if you had some realism. All you can do is apply and see what happens (it is much harder to chance for art schools).

RISD and MICA don’t really care about test scores/GPA as long as they’re decent. For illustration, your portfolio is nice. However, the actual application process for these schools generally involves demonstrating technical ability with specific exercises.

Guys can you please take a look at my portfolio? I am applying for graphic design (as well as a sophomore) for both colleges. I come from a Mexican University so I haven’t done much artwork (specially drawing) because the first year of college is mostly art theory and philosophy. Most of the pieces in my portfolio were done out of assigned readings and had to be “conceptual”. Many are unfinished pieces.

Trey, its pretty interesting, but as previously stated you need to demostrate technical skill. I currently go to RISD and my entire portfolio was work from life. NO PHOTO BASED DRAWINGS. When you get to RISD there is plenty of time to be experimental and conceptual but they really what to see if you are capable.
