Just wondering if I have a chance at getting into Stony Brook Universtiy. Also, list other colleges you may recommend for me.
-In the top 20% of my class
-3.7 GPA
-1150/1600 CR+M. 1710/2400 CR+M+W
-Numerous amounts of volunteer work
-Member of National Honor Society as well as a number of other extracurricular activities
-Advanced Regents Diploma
-Taken/Taking AP (French)
-Live in NY

i'd say you have a very good shot.

Thanks. Any other recommendations?

what is your intended major/area of interest? Are you mainly looking at state schools?

I am not exactly sure about majors, but I was hoping to do something with Foreign Language/French/Linguistics or International Studies. I think Psych is very interesting but don't think I could do much with that.

And yeah a state school or one that isn't too expensive because my sister is currently attending a private school and planning to go to law school next year.

Anymore help?

Your GPA is much higher than the average GPA of applicants, and your SAT is on the high-side as well.

You're almost a sure-shot. Probably will get into the honors program if they have one and fin. aid if needed.

Thanks. I hope I get accepted and, if I get in, hope my parents will let me go hah.

Safety....

Also look at SUNY Albany. I think Albany also has some fairly generous merit scholarships but I'm not sure of the details of what it takes to qualify.

Thank you for the tips! I was also considering SUNY Albany actually :)

Decent shot. No way for honors.
