Do I have a chance at getting into WUSTL?

GPA: 3.55 UW/ 4.12W, rank top 40%, Upward Trend (3.5 freshman/4.1 soph /4.5 junior/4.8 senior first sem), took a community college course in Nutrition (received an A+, highest grade in class which my professor mentioned in her letter if it matters at all)
ACT: 36
Subjects: 770 Math 2, 730 USH, 750 Bio

Rigor: Took All honors freshman/soph year, all AP’s junior/senior year (total 12), transcript will indicate I took most difficult schedule
Intended Major: Sociology at Arts and Sciences
EC’s: 400+ hours of comm serv for food banks and a tutoring club for elementary kids who didn’t have enough food, received presidents award for community service, many leadership positions for clubs(tutoring club, premed club, music club), NJROTC Drill Team (went to Nationals and placed top 5 (will not state exactly for sake of privacy, but I wasn’t 5th), internship with marine corps recruiting and a hospital, went to a medical mission trip in mexico
GC said ECs were solid after I showed her resume

Recs: Should be great, asked AP Bio teacher and AP Euro teacher, and college professor

My GPA and class rank is absolutely dismal, but the people at my school are all insanely smart because it is a magnet school. Do I have a chance at all? I love WUSTL!

Edit: I tried showing as much demonstratred interest as possible, including an alumni interview later, mailing list, emails back and forth with my counselor, and a future visit. Also, I applied RD

Reach/low reach although the upward trend in your grades may help. Test scores are good and it looks like you are pretty focused in your ECs.

I think you probably would have gotten in if you applied ED.

I really regret not applying ed and definitely would have if only there was an ed2. I wasn’t confident in my application so I only submitted safeties ea. Thank you!

Definitely a reach. Very strong act scroe but your gpa and sat 2 scores are weak. I think visiting would definitely help a lot. Good luck!

Getting into colleges is like winning lottery. Your test scores are qualifying. You never know what will click with the admin officers. I would say hold tight and see what happens.

Thank you so much @GammaDelta and @Kiriel . Will attempt to visit, and hopefully something clicks!

@Bolsted101 go and visit. My kid’s stats were OK-not the greatest and he got in last year-look at my post in another thread.

My kid was accepted with stats like yours. Her GPA was definitely below average for the school, but with a story behind it - and it started trending upwards in junior year. She showed tons of interest, applied ED and was deferred while they kept an eye on her GPA to make sure the upward trend was really a trend. She was accepted in March of that year, and has been on Dean’s List every semester.

that’s great to hear, I know I’ll be able to succeed once I get there, its just getting there which is the hard part. If i went to my local school, I would definitely have a more respectable GPA, but attending a competitive magnet school definitely took its toll, albeit teaching me how to properly study/manage my time. Hopefully, they will look at my application in the same light as your s/d.

@Bolsted101 I think you have a decent chance of acceptance if things are done holistically. The upward trend is a plus.

Your stats are roughly the same as my son who got in ED last year. He had the higher GPA but you have the higher ACT/SAT equivalent score with that perfect ACT score (his old SAT converted to ACT would have been 34-35). And like Bubblewrap666’s daughter, he is doing well-made Dean’s List first semester.
