I'm a Hispanic girl with a 4.83/5.00 gpa and a class rank of 3/479, but with a 1780 SAT. I'm in band, FFA, NHS, and Spanish NHS, held/hold four leadership positions, accumulated a lot of community service hours over the past three years, and have three state awards for FFA.

I'm still applying anyways since I have heard of success stories of students scoring an 1800 and being accepted.

It’s a real stretch, but not entirely impossible. I imagine that the 1800 scorers had a compelling story, besides having “accumulated a lot of community service hours over the past three years.” It probably won’t matter, but when you apply, show more direction, passion, and interest than having accumulated hours.

Since you’re going to apply anyway, why ask?

SAT is very low for Ivy League schools. Unless you can bring that up in December to at least a 2000, I’d say it’s unlikely (but not impossible) for you to get into an Ivy League school.

@mnm111 I haven’t tried the ACT but it might be worth a try (though I’ll be on the standby list and not 100% guaranteed a test). As for the correlation between my GPA and SAT score, that’s what I always asked myself. I basically have everything that colleges want except my SAT I score.
