Are you applying ED? If so, you have a good chance. Even moreso if you are full pay. JHU is need-blind technically, but always looks for a few more full pays to balance the budget.

This assumes you are not applying for bio-med or other competitive major.

I am also applying to a less popular major that I am very passionate about which comes through in my app; Earth and Planetary Science. Not sure if this helps or not.

740 on math II is technically worse than a 640 on Math I because of the fact that the math II median of ~660 and a standard deviation of ~120 while Math I has a standard deviation of 100 and a median of 500. Which means your z score for Math I is greater than your z score for math II.

I know someone with about your same stats (at least scorewise) who got into JHU ed. And he was doing public health administration as his major, or something along the lines of that.

So I’d say you have a good chance considering your major.

It helps a little. ED really helps a lot. My D was accepted last year RD with a 31 ACT, 760 Math 2, 680 Lit, 3.92/4.4 gpa with 12 AP’s from a competitive public HS. But she was a legacy and had crazy good EC’s and prospective Psych major. And she applied as full pay.

I don’t really understand how a 740 on the math 2 is that bad. I thought anything above 700 is considered a good score. I understand the whole thing about the curve, but then they might as well would have changed the scoring all together if they didn’t think 740 was a respectable score, no?

Thanks! Would sending my physics score help or hurt? JHU recommends at least 3 subject tests but they aren’t required. Would it look better to send the physics or not?

The standardized testing seems to be a little below par for hopkins, but given that your gpa is great and you seem to think everything else is in range, I’d probably say a low reach. applying ed also helps. Good luck!
