Do I have a chance at MIT?

I visited MIT this weekend and I immediately fell in love with the school. The atmosphere, the location, the academia... Only bad thing would probably be the weather in winter. It's my dream school; do I have a chance? Stats listed below. Be honest!

Asian Female
California
HS is highly competitive but does not rank. Would place myself in top 5%, at least.
Major: Computer Engineering
Minor: Econ
Upper Middle Class. looking at no need-based financial aid. And sadly, MIT doesn't offer merit-based aid. ):

Sophomore year WGPA: 4.4
UW: 3.9
1 AP (score:3), 2 Honors

Junior year WGPA: 5.0
UW: 4.0
5 AP's(score: four 5's, one 4), 1 Honor

Senior year: Will be taking 5 AP's, one regular. Expect 4.0 UW GPA.

SAT: 2330 single sitting
CR: 800; Math: 740; Writing: 790

SAT Subject Tests
Math II: 800
Bio: 730 (retaking)
Lit: 740 (retaking)

Work Experience:

Really only started to get into engineering in junior year. So far have learned HTML/CSS, JavaScript; am taking a class covering Unix-based coding and tech startups; will soon learn Python/Java.

Attending Economics For Leaders program in a few days. Week-long program at Berkeley.

Expect essays to be great; teacher recs probably so-so. Supplemental rec from boss at summer internship, if accepted by MIT, will probably be excellent.

Be harsh. Be critical. Be honest. And thank you!

Pretty good. Just write a great essay and how you can apply your creativity in real life or something similar to that.

Thanks for the advice. Any other takers?

You have as great a shot as any other incredible applicant. Good luck! :)

You have a VERY strong academic record, as well as great SAT scores. You just need to think of ways to set yourself even further apart from other applicants, through your essay, extracurriculars etc. Though I cannot guarantee you a spot at MIT, I can definitely say that you have a very competitive resume.

Thanks, both of you! I’ll take the advice to heart.

Write a good essay for them, and you should be in! Your academics are outstanding, which is a plus. I know though that they will want something that sets you apart from the rest of the group, so you just need to show them.

MIT is crapshot for anyone. it doesn’t matter how good you are. just write a good essay. that’s what you can do actually.

As a female with competitive stats already, I’d say you stand slightly above the acceptance rate, but that by no means makes it an easy acceptance for you! Good luck with your essays/interviews and I think you have a real chance of getting into your dream school,

Chance me back please?
