Do I have a chance at Northwestern Early Decision

I’m a rising senior. I’m a white male. I live in Illinois and my family income is ~200k

My weighted GPA is a 4.68 and my unweighted GPA is around a 3.85.
ACT: 32
I took 4 AP classes this year.
AP Chem. AP Physics I. APUSH. AP Lang&Comp
Next year I’m going to be taking 6 AP Classes.
AP Calc AB. AP Biology. AP Gov. AP Psychology. AP Lit&Comp. AP World History. Spanish 4.

The one thing that really appeals to me about Northwestern is their Cognitive Science and Neuroscience major. I also loved their campus and the fact that I’m able to take the train home. Their campus was beautiful and it was my favorite one I have been to. I also love that they are a smaller school that still have competitive D1 sporting events.

Some of my most consistent extra curriculars: Baseball Frosh, Soph, Junior, and I will play senior year. I should be a captain next year.
Basketball freshman year. BEE leader at my school (mentors freshman). Student Athlete Leadership Team. Travel Baseball for 8 years. Summer Baseball with my school for 3 years. I don’t plan to continue playing baseball in college. Minor volunteering positions.

I currently have two summer jobs and I probably work about 50 hours a week in total. One is at a restaurant and one is at a machining shop.

I have received a few awards at my school (High honor roll, Student Athlete award, Grit Award, All-Conference Academic award.

Do I have a chance?

bump

Yes you have a chance applying ED. Still a reach for you but you are within there admitted student profile.

Your chances are very low. There are just so many people with higher grades and test scores than you, myself included, who end up being rejected ED. In addition, your ECs aren’t that impressive.

Any Subject Test scores?
How did you do on the AP tests you took this year?

@WCASParent AP test are used for placement, not admission. Subject tests are used for admission.

@perspectivestude Does NU say this on the website? If not, I’d assume that all parts of the Common app are considered in the admission process.

@soontobecolleger The thing is that these scores are self reported and you don’t need to send in the official score reports, unlike other standardized tests.

@perspectivestude I really still think it’s taken into account (otherwise they wouldn’t even ask for it) and I hoped that they’d take mine into account  good scores are always a boost

@soontobecolleger I hope they do since it’ll give me a little boost, but it’s still unlikely to be a large factor.

You have a shot. It’s tough for anyone unhooked, but ignore the nattering nabobs of negativity. AP’s may matter.

Your GPA and courseload look great! I think you have a high chance of getting in ED
