I’ll be honest here…

When I went to the RU Tour in July, the guy there said that the pharmacy program generally wants to see a 700 in each section, so you’d need a 2100 basically. I suppose you do have a chance considering your other stuff, but the SAT/ACT is a big factor thats missing; 2100 SAT or 30> ACT.

Ok, thanks for answering!

At least I have some hope I guess Still praying for it!!

Your GPA is good; what’s your weighted? RU Pharmacy looks at your weighted GPA. ECs are solid, and your class rigor is good as well. However, your SAT needs serious work. EMSOP relies heavily on stats (or so I’ve been told), so a good GPA (which you already have) and a good SAT score (2150+) are essential. If you can get that SAT up, I’d say you’d have a pretty good chance of getting in.

My school hasn’t given out the weighted GPA, but I’m sure it’ll be higher (I hope, haha).
So, what if my ACT won’t get any higher? Will that stop me from getting into the school of pharmacy? : o

you have a good gpa and rank but your SATs are going to kill your chances i would aim for at least a 2000.

Hmm…has Rutgers ever accepted someone below a 2000? Because I saw on the school profiles, that 25% of the applicants had below that score that were admitted to the school.

yes they have. they’ve accepted people in the 1900s, and my friend’s relatives have been waitlisted with 1800s :)

you have a chance but to be have a really good chance you need to improve your SAT, 2000 is an avg score where some students will score 2100+ and thats why the avg pharmacy score seems high. But 2000 SAT with your GPA would seem ideal. Even a 1900 would be good.

One thing i tell everyone on this forum is to apply early if you really want to get accepted.

You have a better chance when 0 seats are taken then when only 50 seats remain.

To be brutally honest, no, you do not. Your ACT as well as your SAT score is way too low on all sections. SOP students generally have ACT scores that range from 31 to 34 and SAT that ranges from 2070 to 2260. SOP looks heavily at your math and reading score on the SAT. [Rutgers Admissions | GPA’s and SAT’s of previously admitted students, by school](http://admissions.rutgers.edu/Academics/AdmissionsProfile.aspx)

One more thing, SOP is largely comprised of Asians, both males and females. In other words, you will be competing in a pool against other Asian students who have perhaps more stellar statistics than you. My suggestion is, retake the SAT and get at least a 2100 to be on the safe side.

A girl in my school got in with a 98% GPA and 1800 SAT.

So I guess you have a small chance.

There’s a cutline in the SAT score for SOP. Unfortunately, if you got a 580 on reading, you won’t even be able to get near the cutline! I’m telling you, retake the SAT. Score AT LEAST a 630 on reading. You might want to study for the writing section just because that section is pretty much a joke, so if you study a little, you will somewhat buffer your result on the verbal section. And your math score…it’s not very impressive at all especially for an Asian applicant. Thousands of other Asian applicants have 700+ on math. Get that score, and that will get you jump in the pool.

Retake either ACT or SAT. If you do well, you definitely have a shot.

If you do nothing else this fall, you have to find a way to get that SAT up. Do you do practice books? Tried SAT prep classes? Relaxation techniques? Your grades and AP classes say you should be able to do it.

The books really do help. Get to the library or a yard sale and load up on old ones and do them over and over until you get used to answering those types of questions. Good luck.
