I got a 2220 on the SAT, 740 CR, 680 W, 800 M; and 760 on Physics, and 780 on the Math Level 2. I plan on applying to MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Stanford, UChicago and RICE. Is this overly hopeful, or do I have a decent chance with these grades?

Your scores don’t automatically exclude you.

From any of them?

That should not be your complete list. “Decent Chance”? Nobody but nobody has a “decent chance”. You have a chance. You need some matches and safeties.

Your SAT scores are somewhat in the ballpark of the scores required for these colleges. That doesn’t mean you will get in solely on the basis of your SAT score. There is a lot more than the SAT score.
