I am currently attending Wayne State University…It’s not that great… I was sort of forced to go to it. I want to transfer to Cornell but I am not sure if I have a chance. I am currently a sophmore and I have a 4.00 GPA (It’s well deserved; most of my courses are core courses). I’m also in the honors program at Wayne State. I’m very involved with EC’s and everything. I could also get a few good references from top-notch professors who taught me. My high school marks are excellent but not extraordinary. I didn’t write the SATs because I am Canadian and I didn’t need to write them for my current university. Should I write the SAT before I apply? Do I have a decent chance at getting in or should I not even think about applying? Does Cornell overlook students from State universities?

CALS does not require SAT scores to be sent in, they are optional. I think that you have a great shot, considering your GPA and your confidence in your recommendations. The essay is also really important.

And Cornell definitely does not overlook students from state universities.

hey...I transferred into CALS from a state college. The 2 biggest requirements for Bio transfers are that you have at least 3.5 GPA and that you show via your essays that you are good match for CALS.

And you've got 1 of them....so make your essays stand out!!
