Do I have a chance at UCSD?

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING

My UC GPA is 4.07 capped and 4.59 uncapped, and 35 ACT composite.
However, the average UC GPA for UCSD is 4.13 and 30 ACT.
However, the average number of honors/APs taken by UCSD admits was 4.5, while I took 11 in grades 10-11.
In light of how rigorous my classes were, will my low UC GPA give me a slight chance at UCSD?

And average GPA (cumulative 9-12)/ACT from my school for UCSD (from Naviance) was 4.24 W/3.88 UW and 32 ACT. However, my 9-12 is 4.36 W/3.80 UW and 35 ACT. Again, because of my course rigor, do you think this is ok?

Sorry for asking this so much, I’m very anxious!

Yes, you have a chance especially since you have an excellent ACT score. UC’s are difficult to predict since not only GPA and test scores are considered, but HS course rigor, essays and EC’s. Each school looks at each applicant differently, so what resonates with one admission officer at one school will not at another. You look like a competitive applicant and all you can do is be patient (I know it is hard) and wait for the results. You have worked hard to get to this point and you will end up at a great school regardless. Good Luck.

@Gumbymom Thank you so much. I definitely hope everything works out.

One thing I am worried about is that since only 8 semesters of AP’s are counted in the UC GPA, are all my other AP’s that I took a waste? Or are they still considered when they see your uncapped UC GPA (10-11) and in light of the rigor of your courses?

Also, I think I qualify for Eligibility in Statewide Context, but I’m not sure about ELC. How badly does it affect your chances at UC schools if you don’t have ELC? Is it a large blow?

And finally, I know it’s very hard to predict, but my top 4 UC schools are UC Irvine, Davis, SD, and SB. Do you think that there’s a chance that I could get into at least 2 of those? :(|)

The UC’s will take note of your HS course rigor. I think you have a good chance at all the UC’s on your list. ELC only guarantees that you will be accepted into a UC (default UCM if there is room) if you are not accepted into your choice UC. Being ELC eligible does help but no guarantees.

Be patient. You’ll find out soon enough.

@Gumbymom @“aunt bea” Thanks! and I’m trying to be :((

We look pretty similar academically – 35 ACT and 4.08 capped W. According to my school’s naviance, UCSD seems to be a low-match and UCB seems to be a high-match. I talked about this is my past thread, but people similar to my stats have gotten into UCB (everyone who scored a 35 at my school got in with the lowest GPA being a 4.20 uncapped W just for some context). Unless your highschool is on the low-side for academics and such, you should be fine. Not to be condensing, I’m just worrying if I’ll be able to get early admission to UCSD. Don’t worry; you’ll probably get in.
