Do I have a chance for the Ivies??

<p>Hi I'm using my friend's account.
I'm currently a junior and I want to apply to Brown, Dartmouth, Columbia, Northwestern, Tufts, USC, BU, NYU, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCSB, UCI, UCSC.</p>

<p>GPA (assuming I get one B this semester which I'm pretty sure I will)
UW 9-12: 3.90
W 9-12: 4.38
UW 10-12: 3.90
W 10-12: 4.50
I'm taking a summer college class this summer which should raise my GPA.</p>

<p>Senior Class Load: 4 AP's, 1 regular classes</p>

<p>SATs: 2210 780M 710R 720W
ACT: 33C 35W/33M/32R/31S
SAT Subject: 730 Chem. Will take Bio and Math SAT this June.</p>

<p>EC:
School tennis (4 years)
Student Body (2 years)
Co-pres (will be next year) Interact Club
Vice Pres (will be next year) of school MUN
Violin (8 years)
Around 300 hours of volunteering.
Went to Tanzania to volunteer last summer
Getting a summer job at ice cream store
Babysitting</p>

<p>Id say you have a good shot! Your sat is good and your gpa and your activities…you’ve been doing for a long time. Safetys are a good idea cus those are tough schools! Good luck:)</p>

<p>To be totally honest, Ivies are a reach at best for you. You need higher standardized test scores, and loads of leadership positions, in addition to at least one or two EC’s that set you apart from every other student in the nation. </p>

<p>Your gpa is on the lower end as far as ivies go, so unless you have any huge hooks, or absolutely go ham on your essays, the ivies are a long shot.</p>

<p>You’d be a great match for lots of top 20 schools though, so don’t be discouraged!

<p>I was kinda thinking the ivies were a reach too. So do you think UCLA, Cal, USC and NYU would be reaches or targets? What about the rest? Thanks guys! And I promise to chance back :)</p>

other ivies except cornell=reach
cornell=low reach
everywhere else=solid chance</p>

<p>Except Northwestern is a better school than Cornell, Dartmouth and Brown at this point.</p>

<p>Your largest problem is that you’re unhooked. Yes, you have good grades and good standardized testing, but does that mean that I want to accept you into my ivy-league college (hypothetically, obviously), especially where there are a significant number of kids that do jump off the page with similar grades and ECs? Not necessarily.</p>

<p>But, that being said, I would encourage you to apply-- you never know.</p>
