I have taken two honors classes, both being for Spanish. I have taken AP Comp Sci but didn't do to well on the AP exam (I got a 2 :L, but I got a B+ in the class. I will be taking three AP classes Senior Year. AP Euro, AP Pysch and APES.

I am getting a recommendation from my Comp SCI teacher she is a ten year and used to work at NASA. I am also getting a recommendation from my English teacher who has been teaching 20+ years in different states and countries (including the middle east) and still works for Navy Intelligence. Both teachers are strict on who they give recommendations and both gladly accepted to write mine.

I don't have glowing EC but I am the AV director for Philosophy club (i direct the advertisements for my club.) I am a Black belt in Hapkido and I go to tournaments bi-annually (and do well). I am Board 5 on the A team for my school's chess team. I also always have a 3d animation movie being accepted to be played at the Art Festival at my school. (Two of them one best animations.)

The reason why I did bad freshman year was because I picked difficult classes and to many of them and it was stressful to the point where I gave up. I then picked regular classes except for Spanish Honors 3 Sophomore year and I did a helluva lot better. I then took one ap class to test the waters Junior year and I think I did good. And now I am confident that I can take the three ap classes.

By the end of the year I will have taken 5 math courses, 4 languages, 4 histories, 4 sciences and 4 years of English 2 semesters of a fine art and two years of an applied art.

Tell me if I have a chance and what I should do to strengthen my chances. Thank you.

I forgot to mention I joined the Jewish Youth Group(I am an Atheist but culturally Jewish) that does some charity for Israel. I joined this summer.

Yes, I have started the application process and I am working on the essay rough draft.
My rough draft is about how I was “destined to be a nerd”. My teacher says it looks fine as it is so far.

hey, im a current depaul student. I transfered in from a community college.

1) I see that you are a cs? what school is that in? the college of data management right? the different schools at depaul have different gpa requirements for admission. for instance school of las requires a 2.0 whereas school of business requires a 2.5. you should check out the gpa requirement for computer science in the college of data management at depaul.

2) your act score is pretty decent i would suggest you try to get reccomendation letters from some teachers you did well with. that might help solidify your application. of course depaul admissions might say they dont need them…but still it wont hurt.

3)I would suggest you send in your application early…like 5 months early, that way there isnt a whole bunch of apps for the counselors to go through.

4) if you still dont get in, then i would suggest going the community college route.

Get your gpa up some. I do know a friend who had a 2.5 and was still accepted, but I’d improve it to increase admission chances. Your act is pretty good, retake and get a couple points higher. A good course selction, good essay, early application, and recomendations should take care of the rest.

Hey, a little update, I got my first quarter grades in and I ended up with a 3.55 GPA (weighted). Also I got my act score back and I got a 27 this time. To be specific,
Calculus C+
English B
Ap Psych B+
AP Euro B+
Honors Animation II B+
APES C+

My goals are to raise Calculus and Euro because I feel like I can do a lot better in that class (i did good on all the tests and papers just did bad on the first quiz). I do however really badly want to get the hell out of APES, I don’t want to drop it and have a free period, I’m willing to in fact take a different science course second semester like maybe anatomy or astronomy or hell even regular environmental science. I’m going to finish the semester and see what happens.

I feel like you can get in. Depending on which area of study. Business will be slightly harder than LAS. But I think you have a good shot with a 27. The range is about 22-27 so you’re on the high end. You have a good GPA too. Good luck
