Do I have a chance of getting into Stony Brook University?

Unfortunately, my GPA at the end of my junior year would be a 2.3 and around a 2.8 at the end of my senior year. I have showed a lot of improvement. My grades freshmen year were 65s - 75s and my grades now (junior year) are 85s - 100s. My grades were slipping because I had numerous eye surgeries. Would the admissions board take my improvement into consideration? Also, if I scored pretty high on my SATs, like a 1,900+, do you think I'd have a chance? I got a 1,500 on my PSAT without making much effort and I'm positive I can get at least an 1,900+ on the SAT. I've been studying and taking a lot of practice test so I should be prepared for when I do take the SAT (May and October). I could get amazing recommendation letters from more than three teachers and I'm an awesome writer so the essay shouldn't be a problem. Also, I'm Hispanic if that makes any kind of difference. I don't want you to sugarcoat it, I just need a blunt, accurate answer please! Thank you. :)

It’s hard to say, but the application is MUCH more than just grades. I suggest you apply and include an excellent personal statement, try to do good on your SAT and highlight any extracurricular qualifications you may have.

Stony gives special cOnsideration to kids who have alot of extracurriculars so that would help. I think you have a chance. Good luck!
