Do I have a chance to get into a premed college?

Hi. I've been reading this forum for a day or two, and I wanted to ask a question. I'll be a senior in high school next school year. My grades for freshman and sophomore year aren't that great, and I've only taken the minimum number of science and math classes because I transfered schools and my credits didn't transfer.

I have no extracurriculars aside from German Club and some volunteer work at Cosi and the Humane Society. I haven't taken the SAT or ACT yet, but I'm confident that I'll do well on them. Do I have any chance to get into a premed school?

Also, I'm taking mostly art and music classes next year. If I change my schedule and take more math and science classes, will it increase my chances?

Thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. If you mean a direct-acceptance 7 or 8 year med program, in which you are automatically admitted to a university's med school along with the college, then no, I doubt you have much of a shot. Most of these are extremely selective.

If you just mean can you take a premed track--of course! You can go to any college you want, and have any major you want, and go on to med school, as long as you fulfill all the prereqs for med school (look on the websites of the med schools you're interested in to see what these are), make great grades, and when the time comes, score well on the MCAT.

Bump. Anyone else?
