Do I have a chance to get into NYU stern?

I am a current student in Queens College and I wanted to know if there is a chance of me making into NYU Stern or Columbia.

I have started college in Spring 2012.
I have confindence of receiving a GPA of 3.9-4.0.
My SAT scores is 1790 and an average of 83%.

I am also wondering about what classes should I take next year.

If anyone can give me any suggestion i would be very thankful.

Bring your SAT up to around 2,200+. Keep your GPA as close to 4.0 as possible.

I am in college right. Do I still have to retake the sat ??

If you’re going to be transferring into NYU as a sophomore, then just don’t submit any standardized test scores.

They will request you to send in your SAT score if you are transferring as a rising Sophmore. It won’t matter too much. Mainly based on what courses you take and your GPA. As for what courses to take :

http://www.stern.nyu.edu/programs-admissions/undergraduate/admissions/transfer-applicants/index.htm</a></p>

You can find it here.

That doesn’t say anything about the SAT. What makes you think they will require you to send in the SAT?

NYU doesn’t require SAT scores for transfer students:
“Transfer applicants who will have already completed, at the very least, one full-year of full-time college or university enrollment in liberal arts and science courses, are exempt from having to submit standardized testing to NYU”

[Standardized Tests](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply)

Unless Stern is an exception to this rule? But this seems to apply to all of the NYU colleges?

i am transfer in the sophomore year. Thank you guys for all the help.

People from NYU caliber schools usually try to xfer to columbia (i have a few friends with 3.9~ who tried to xfer from USC&tufts who didnt get into columbia)… unless you take a bunch of advanced classes that make you very desirable and have amazing recs i think columbia is very unlikely

NYU is more likely if you have a rigorous course schedule and u keep that 4.0

You need to submit standarized tests it is part of the checklist for a transfer applicant as far as i know:[Transfer Applicants](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply) if so…2200+ is good 1790 is way low

[Standardized Tests](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply)

Standardized Test scores are required for first year transfers ( people who apply in their freshman spring). If the OP is transferring as a sophomore then he doesn’t need to.

Casto, someone who’s applying in the spring of their freshmen year would be applying for fall transfer – the deadline for fall transfer is around march 15th and applicants hear back around May.

Also, NYU does not accept freshmen transfers – you have to have completed one full year of study in order to enter NYU as a transfer student.

NYU accepts transfer applicants who are in the process of completing their first year at college. In other words, if an applicant is a freshman in their spring semester, they can apply and they will enrol in NYU as a sophomore in the fall semester following their application.

Yes – which means at the time of enrollment, they will be a sophomore.

Which means that they are exempt from having to submit any standardized tests.

See:
“Transfer applicants who will have already completed, at the very least, one full-year of full-time college or university enrollment in liberal arts and science courses, are exempt from having to submit standardized testing to NYU”

The ‘will have’ applies to when the student would start at NYU. Meaning applicants who will be entering as sophomore do not have submit standardized testing.

But at the time people are applying they are still freshman. And decisions will be made before they become a sophomore so I’m 100% sure freshman applicants (rising sophomores in the summer) will need to submit their SAT score.

No.

While they may be applying as a freshmen, NYU does not accept freshmen transfers. In order to transfer to NYU you MUST enter as a sophomore. Anyone who will have completed one full year by the time they would enroll at NYU does not have to submit any standardized testing.

Essentially, anyone applying as a transfer student to NYU doesn’t have to submit any sort of testing, because NYU does not accept freshmen transfer students.

What year you are in when you apply is not relevant – as it specifically states “Transfer applicants who will have already completed, at the very least, one full-year”, with emphasis on the Will have completed.

NYU2013 is correct. Pretty obviously stated online…

NYU2013 is incorrect.

I applied as a transfer student as an incoming sophomore, and I had to submit my standardized scores. If you have less than 30 credits completed AT THE TIME OF APPLYING, you have to send it SAT scores. Since I was a freshman, I had completed 15 and had 15 underway. As a result, I had to submit SAT scores.
