Hey,

It sucks that you’re underpredicted. Your other stats would have really aligned well with a strong predicted.
Remember that along with your predicted grades, your entire high school transcript goes. So your grades from first semester of IBDP will be received by the institutions. How is the trend on these? Is there a clear observation of underprediction?

Also, your course rigor and ability to challenge yourself may be put in question. You have a 790 in SAT Math, and hope to major in computer science - a math intensive field. Yet, you have taken Math at Standard Level not Higher Level and not done exceedingly well in it - (5 predicted) Is it because Math HL is not offered at your school?

Stanford, MIT, Caltech and Berkeley are all far reaches considering this. I’d recommend you look at schools with Test flexible policy, where you can apply with emphasis on your SATs. Such as NYU, Rochester, Bates…etc. All top-notch schools.

Good luck!

Thanks but I have just applied to Stanford, MIT, and Berkeley. If I do not get into any of these universities I will try next year. Hoping for the best!

Note that only MIT is need blind for internationals. Did you apply for financial aid? If so it may decrease your chances.

@sgopal2 it WILL decrease chances ofc, but not by margain. stanford is famous for its AID. one of few universities/colleges who aids international students EXCEPTIONALLY WELL ( usually 100% of tuition is financed)

Only 25% of Internationals at Stanford receive aid vs nearly half in the domestic pool. That certainly sounds like a big difference to me:

Hi guys sorry for the delay but no I have not applied for financial aid

I say that the OP has a strong chance. Good luck

Stanford: you might get in but, then again you need to have stellar essays. remember that alot of applicants look like you on paper so you have to show out with our essays
Cal Tech - accepted
MIT- waitlist
Berkely - waitlisted

wait… Berkeley- accepted
Chance me back please

@adrinitis “caltech - accepted” really? You do realize Caltech has higher standards than MIT and they care more about grades/scores than MIT does. You can’t say predict for sure if anyone will get into Caltech. That’s impossible to do. If you don’t know anything about these schools then don’t chance anyone.

CalTech is the only one I think rejected. If your scores aren’t PERFECT they don’t want you lol that’s the #1 thing they look for. The others are reaches but you have a chance!

@sciencenerd nothing is impossible… lmao I get it. Cal tech is hard school to get into but that doesn’t mean he won’t get it. As a debater you 11% more likely to get into super competitive schools like that. He has stellar SAT You are not an admissions counselor or dean. None of us are. Cal tech has an 8% acceptance rate and so does MIT. Do not judge my decision okay?

@adrinitis what I’m saying is, everyone who applies to Caltech has these scores, or better. There are SO many other factors. You can’t say they will be accepted, because that just gets their hopes up. They do have a chance. The CAN get in. But many other people can get in, and would do amazingly if they do, but there are more of those people than there are slots to fill at these schools. That’s all I’m saying-- you can’t make a definitive judgment like that.
