<p>It doesn’t matter that you’re hispanic. Good teacher recs don’t matter because they don’t take that into consideration. And uniqueness of an essay only matters for UCLA and UC Berkeley, every other UC just looks for places in the essay to give you points.</p>
<p>Its good that you have a lot of extra stuff, but you really need to raise that SAT score. Its too late to raise your GPA, so I would say if you REALLY want to get into UCSB, you’re gonna need to raise that to an 1800+. Even then, my friend had a 3.5 and a 2020 on his SAT and got rejected, although he didn’t have as much extra stuff as you. Just something to take into consideration though. Not to mention nobody knows how selective the UC system might become next year. UCSB was spared this year, but might not be so lucky next year, since I heard they overenrolled by about 450 people above their goal. </p>
<p>Anyway, all that being said, good luck to you! Just keep trying to get as many things to beef up your college app as possible, like more community service, awards, etc, and you might just get in.</p>
