Hi everyone, I am a junior and since this year is already coming to an end i thought i should start thinking about colleges. The colleges that i am thinking of applying to are: U Penn, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Duke, Johns Hopkins, USC, Rice, Wash. U in St. Louis, UCLA, and UC Berkeley. My dream school, however, is Johns Hopkins as a Biochemistry Major... Do i have a shot? Any kind of advice will be much appreciated!
Here are my stats:
Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted: 4.8
SAT: 2150
SAT II Math lv.2: 760
SAT II Biology Eco: 770
SAT II Biology Mol: 760
SAT II Chemistry: 700
I plan on taking the AP Biology and AP English APs in May.
I am also in the top 4% of my class.

- I am a member of 2 youth orchestras where i hold the position on principal clarinet. I have also competed in and won honors in many local and state music competitions. (I plan on submitting a supplement for music).
- I have been interning at the LA Childrens Hospital for 2 years in their research department. My research has mainly been in the area of progenitor cells of amniotic fluid and how they can be utilized to treat many genetic diseases.

We also try to spread awareness of the advancements in bone marrow donation and how it have evolved into a completely fast and painless procedure. (I plan on writing my personal statement on this topic).

WOW first off I dont know how you maintained these grades.
Now onto the part you care about, the colleges. This list is verrrryyyyy ambitious, but you are a very ambitious student. I am assuming you have taken all honors/ ap classes. A majority of the schools you picked such as harvard, standford, and mit are reaches for anyone. What I would recommend is getting you sat up to a 2200. THe reason being that alll harvard apps have 2100s you need to be better.
Overall I say you have a good chance at getting into getting into Hopkins because of your insaneee gpa. KEEP IT UP!
Chance back
Chance an average junior- penn state, northeastern plzzz i will chance back

I’d say you have a pretty good shot at a school like Johns Hopkins. I’d have to agree with pinzandneedles that really competitive schools like Harvard are reaches for everyone. It’s a whole lot of luck on who gets picked. Personally I think the weakest part of your app is your SAT, but all your scores and EC’s are wonderful. If you could get your SAT up even 50-100 points, you would get a huge boost. Otherwise this is a very nice app and I think you’ll do great.
Best of luck!

I believe ur chances of getting into hopkins is nearly 100%. you hav great stats and ec, which is related to ur major. umm i dont know what u got on ur AP tests but from ur stats i guess u probably got 4s and 5s. however, if u r planning on going into hopkins, where do u wanna go for graduate? it is quite hard to get into hopkins’s medical school if ur an undergraduate there cuz the competition is so cruel that ur GPA mite get tanked.
but overall ur chances r great!

not too sure of what the stats are for john hopkins but with that kind of academic profile you would have a good shot at most of the top tier colleges. of course with ivy’s, you never know. please chance back

I would definitely retake the SAT. 2150 is a little low for those schools. If you can raise your score at least 100 points, it will greatly increase your chances.
